Strategic approaches to diverse challenges
This section seeks to cluster our work into themes and provide a flavour of our activities.
Organisational Development
Whilst organisations impact on the success of cross-sector partnerships, so too can the partnering experience impact on the organisations involved. The Partnering Initiative understands this two-way street and is actively engaged in work looking specifically to build the capacity of organisations from all sectors to partner with each other, helping them to become fit for purpose in an ever changing world.

Moving On Strategies
Every aspect of the partnering cycle is important, yet often in practice the latter stages are given less care and attention than the formative ones. As a result, effective and systematic partnership-building processes have become more commonplace, but the moving on aspects of partnerships are misunderstood and undervalued in many instances. The Partnering Initiative has conducted research that seeks to redress this balance and create a broader understanding of the significance of moving on and the opportunities it presents for further growth.

Case Studies
Capturing the essence of cross-sector partnering through case studies is more than just recounting the facts. It is an opportunity to critique a process, to strengthen bonds between partners, a chance to be creative, and an invaluable way of adding to the understanding of partnering, both for those involved and those on the outside willing to learn. The Partnering Initiative has developed an approach for creating case studies aimed at maximising learning potential.

Review and Evaluation
In order to reap the benefits of a partnership approach, it is important to scrutinise exactly what these benefits are. Those involved are, at some stage, likely to question its impact and value. The Partnering Initiative has been working extensively on the review and evaluation of partnerships, developing review processes and tools to ensure that the right questions are asked in the right way to produce answers that will benefit both the partnership process and those involved.

System Change
As organisations develop their capacity to partner, the systems in which they operate must develop to facilitate increased cross-sector collaboration. As well as working with specific organisations, The Partnering Initiative is engaged in work contributing strategically towards system change in all sectors to create a more effective and enabling environment for cross-sector partnerships in response to the challenges of the modern world.
